Preamble
Fr. Sahaya Selvam, along with the rest of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Upperhill, is organizing a fundraising walk from Subukia Shrine to the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Upperhill to raise funds for the building of a modern youth-friendly spirituality center at the heart of Nairobi. (MSSC). Since beginning their work in Nairobi, the Salesian fraternity has had a dream of establishing a place for the Salesian pilgrimage in Nairobi. The Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Nairobi is privileged to be the only place in Africa, and among a few others in the world, to house a relic of St John Bosco.
MSSC is envisioned to be a center for holistic spirituality. MSSC will seek to promote and enhance devotion to Mary Help of Christians, for the education and evangelization of God’s people, especially the youth, in Africa, following the Oratorian style of Don Bosco. The MSSC falls within the larger Salesian of Don Bosco’s charism and spirituality, and in this case, living in a shrine and parish context.
The Shrine 2 Shrine walk will cover a distance of 221 kilometers in 7 days, which translates to approximately 30 kilometers each day.
This walk is part of the larger fundraising initiatives which culminate in a major Harambee on 8th September 2024
Dates 21st to 28th September 2024
